75 Years of Christian Care at LWPHomes

Question: why cycle 550+ miles?

Answer: in Celebration of 75 Years of Christian Care!

LWPHomes (formerly LPMA Homes) has been supporting Leaders of Worship and Preachers in need for 75 years – the first Home was opened at Westcliff-on-Sea in 1949. Celebrations for this special anniversary include a 550+ mile cycle ride to visit each of the LWPHomes, starting at Westcliff on Tuesday April 16, 2024. Our cyclist, Robert Davie, is asking for your support to make people aware of the care given to our residents in LWPHomes.

Robert will start at Westerley, Westcliff-on-Sea, on April 16th 2024 and pass through Bury St Edmunds on his way to the newly opened Methodist Heritage Centre at Wighton in Norfolk.

From Wighton on to Westerley, Woodhall Spa. From there a train ride will take Robert on to visit Epworth Rectory in North Lincolnshire – the birthplace of John and Charles Wesley.

From Epworth, Robert will head southwards to Gainsborough House, Milborne Port, which is an independent living complex run by LWPHomes. He hopes to arrive in time for the dedication of their on-site Chapel, in regular use by the residents, on May 23.

The last section of the journey is a little hilly in places, so may take a while, but he will be welcomed at the end of this ‘Coast to Coast’ ride by the residents, staff and friends of LWPHomes at ‘Westerley’, Minehead. Hopefully a cup of tea might be available!

We very much hope that we can count on your support to publicise the ride as widely as possible. Robert is keen to call in at Coffee Mornings and places of Methodist interest on the way, so if you know of anywhere he might be welcome, please let him know using this website ‘contact’.

Updates and the planned schedule – all being well – are on Robert’s Justgiving page https://www.justgiving.com/page/robert-davie-1698513560916
